Ball pythons are good beginner snakes, so if your into that go for it! They’re docile and don’t tend to bite. Baby balls are only $50-$70 dollars which isn’t too bad. I bought mine for $50 at a local reptile store and with everything together (cage, bedding, under-tank heater, ect.) was only about $120-ish. So good luck!

For snakes, I would say a kingsnake, cornsanke, ball python, rosy boa, rubber boa, or a milksnake. Most of these would be under $100 and some around $40. For lizards, I would say a bearded dragon, blue tongue skink or a uromastix. These should all be under $100 as well. These all make good pets and are not hard to care for as long as you do your research. Try http://www.kingsnake.com before a pet store since you can get better quality for a better price direct from a breeder. Also Try http://www.llreptile.com they are very good.

Theres some good stuff in here, but as for snakes the two best beginner snakes are corn snakes and ball pythons, both cheap and easy to care for. (much easier then other reptiles) My ball python was $20 at the local reptile show (normal female) I dont know if you’ll find a deal that good, but you should be able to find normal ball pythons for $30 easily. Normal corn snakes are also cheap, and color morphs usually dont go over $100, most are around $50.

Leopard geckos are also another beginner reptile, basic needs, with heat and all that but they only need a 10 gallon tank, and under tank heater, a place to hide, and a food and water dish. The reason I say snakes are easier is becuase they do not need fed as often like other reptiles need fed, every day, or every other day. With snakes its once a week. Also leopard geckos eat crickets and meal worms which might not be the easiest food to find.
