We had a few conversations the most amazing, and solved all the political, social, cultural and moral interests of the planet we sped through the night.

Generally, we research our routes in detail so that we know about where we are and points of interest one may want to see or visit. Susan and I had visited the family in Utah, ending a vacation in St. George. With just a little jog to the north of St. George - and we had to go north to get home we still able to get on U.S. Highway 50 that cut almost a direct line across Nevada where we were able to bind again in the I-80 for the final push home sweet home. Besides being by far the most direct route, Highway 50 had a different look. By mutual agreement, it is considered lonely highway "in America."

Romanticism same deletion on a road where people are less afraid to go, to follow the "Lincoln Highway", a party to retrace the route that once heard the echo of hoof beats Pony Express was simply too much for pass up. In addition to Susan and I drove I-80 across the width of both the Nevada and there are many parts of the road that are clearly in the geographic center of nowhere. How much worse could be on Highway 50?

We verified that the maps show small communities along the floor and Susan and I looked forward to visit successful, if undeniably small towns like Panaca, Pioche, Eureka and even Austin.

Since Austin was about half way back to our migration, we even made preliminary plans for the night in the booming city on time. Of course, it would probably be rustic, but rustic can be charming, right? When we arrived in Austin, we found the old mining town nestled in a cleft of the mountain. There was a very nice guy there selling turquoise he dug his own mine. The two motels we saw could have been established for the film "The Grapes of Wrath." There was a gas station, and - fortunately - the toilet. Even this "facility" offered a hint that things might be good, different here.

Well, we could have stayed in Pioche listening to Harley Davidson stories until lunchtime or beyond, but we got itchy for the road to Panguich – which took us through beautiful Cedar City, UT, and included a fantastic canyon ride up UT14 to Cedar Breaks national monument at over 10,000 ft. elevation before dropping back down to 6,500 ft. into Panquich.
