Aamir's item song inspired by 1980's disco era
In a recent candid interview, when the actor was asked about his item number, Aamir stated that director Abhiney Deo came up with the idea and approached him to do the song and only after consulting Kiran, he decided to do the dance number.
The item song is inspired from the disco era of 1980’s and Aamir opened up about his look in the song by stating that the hairstyle in the item song is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan, while the chest hair which he is sporting in the song is like Anil Kapoor’s.
“The dance moves are similar to Mithun as I am a big fan of him. And my attire will be a mix of styles inspired from Govinda and Amitabh. I'm saluting the superstars of the 1980s and 1990s, including Disco Dancer Mithun Chakraborty, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Jeetendra and Govinda among others,” further added the actor.
I’m not fond of remakes, says Aamir More and more filmmakers are coming up with remakes not only in films, but also in songs in the name of remixes. However, Aamir revealed that he is not fond of remakes.
Aamir said, “I am not very fond of remakes but I am not totally against it. I worked in Ghajini, which was a remake of a Tamil film. I am not someone who would instinctively do a remake as I look to try something new. If something interesting comes up, I am open to the idea.”
Aamir’s kids are embarrassed of his dance number Aamir’s new item song in ‘Delhi Belly’ has become a much-talked about affair for his retro look.
Although it’s now heard that his children, son Junaid and daughter Aira are not pleased with his dance moves in the song and are embarrassed about it.
Talking about his children not liking the song, Aamir stated, "My son Junaid and my daughter Aira were like, (covering his face) 'Papa what have you done?' ...and they shut their eyes and said 'what have you done' and they were most embarrassed by my amazing dancing.”
Meanwhile, his nephew Imran has stated that Aamir lacks the sexiness that a lot of the other item girls were easily able to bring onscreen.

Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, was active during the seventies and early eighties, reaching worldwide superstardom as pop hits such as "Dancing Queen", "Mamma Mia" and "SOS" filled teens around the globe with disco fever.

The California quartet pushed hard through songs like "NYC Moves To The Sound Of LA" and "Finale," with its Rapture-esque dance floor urgency highlighted with knocks of heavy cowbell. Lead singer Chad Elliot's crucifix-style mike stand positioning came

Bursting with colour, catchy tunes and freak power, the B-52s offered an alternative to almost every musical strain of the late 70s, from punk to disco to stadium rock. “We were dance-oriented, which a lot of those bands weren't,” says Pierson,
Mithun Chakraborty's Disco Dancer Inspires Book
It must be a rare honour for a filmmaker to have a book written on a film made by him. And that’s exactly how producer-director B. Subhash has been honoured – with a book written on his hit film, Disco Dancer .
Anuvab Pal, who has authored four plays and two films – Loins Of Punjab Presents and The President Is Coming – has written a book titled ‘Disco Dancer’. ‘A comedy in five acts’ is how the book has been described by the author who goes on to translate many portions of the film in English and even pokes fun at the same. However, in the Author’s Note at the beginning of the book, Pal writes: ‘I attended a
Disco Dancer theme party at Columbia University in New York in 1998 and was surprised to find, over and above an attempt by guests to emulate the loud outfits the characters wore, people who had memorized lines, sequences and dance moves. A part of this crowd was non-Indian and they told me of Disco Dancer theme parties in San Francisco, London, Oslo and Prague. I guess, for Indians who migrated with the movie and those who discovered it, every Western notion of ‘kitsch’ and this film match perfectly. Plus, it was Bollywood so extreme, so far out there, so truly terribly made, that in some oddly comic way, it becomes accessible to the West. Perhaps, our first genuine crossover success. Recently, pop star M.I.A. released her remixed version of the song ‘Jimmy’ from the movie.
‘In Russia, there are statues for Jimmy and some acquaintances in Kazakhstan told me that when Mithun Chakraborty went to Almaty, the capital, the president’s address to the nation was cancelled because a million-strong crowd was busy welcoming Mithun at the airport. In Tokyo, there’s a shrine to The Disco Dancer. In Egypt, people serenade Indian tourists by singing Disco Dancer songs. Across Western Asia in general, a swath generally denied Hollywood entertainment through the Cold War years, movies like Disco Dancer, and especially this one, found the audience it was always searching for. An audience that bought the idea that this was indeed a plausible dream being chased by plausible people. Either that or they worshipped Jimmy like a Sasha Baron Cohen or Mike Myers or Mr. Bean. Perhaps, pre-empting Austin Powers or Borat , perhaps a dancing Inspector Clouseau. If you start watching this movie with that mindset, every word uttered by the characters is hilarious.
